Love Spell Perfume Review

Love Spell Perfume Review: Will It Last You All Day?

To this day, Victoria’s Secret is one of the most successful brands in the world. They generate $5.4 billion in revenue, and their products range from lingerie to beauty.

While I’m not exactly the biggest fan of their bras and underwear, I’m definitely no stranger to their beauty products. I’ve used their perfume and makeup before (I actually have held on to one of their lip glosses for way longer than I should have), so I was definitely familiar with Love Spell. While it’s fruitier than what I usually wear, it’s a good fragrance to spritz really quickly before running errands or seeing a friend.

Would I recommend Love Spell to anyone? Here is my full review and recommendation.

Smell

Before I begin this section, I want to say I’m writing this while I have a cold, so I’m a bit congested. But I have been wearing this fragrance every day for nearly a week, so I remember the scent pretty well.

I will discuss this more in the next section, but this fragrance doesn’t last long on me at all. So I will pretty much ignore the middle and base notes and will focus on the top notes.

I definitely get an overwhelming peach scent, but the sweetness is balanced with cherry blossoms. It smells more like a fresh fruity perfume than a floral one, which I know some people will like. While I’m personally very weird about fruity fragrances (they remind me of something I would wear as a kid), Love Spell is very feminine. The fruity notes dominate the floral notes, but they do mix well together.

Overall, it’s a pleasant scent, but not one I would wear to a fine event or a date. Rather, this is a good scent to spritz on if you’re running errands or are seeing friends.

Longevity

First and foremost, I’m not a fan of body mists as it is. When I apply perfume, I don’t want to apply it again. Even when I’m just running errands, I would rather spray a little Lancome La Vie Est Belle or Clinique Happy as opposed to wasting money on body mist that will fade the minute I walk out the door.

I was curious to see how this scent lasted. I used another Victoria’s Secret fragrance (it was either Amber Romance or Pure Seduction) that smelled amazing and lasted a decent amount of time. I’ve also used Bath & Body Works body sprays that also lasted an impressively long time. But this one fades pretty quickly.

Even while writing this review, I sprayed a quick spritz on my wrists. This was maybe 10 minutes ago, and the scent is fading. Not fading to the middle notes as fragrances tend to do, but just fading completely. When I put my wrist to my nose, I smell the remnants, but that’s it. And you can’t blame that on the cold. I’ve been noticing this all week.

In all honesty, it could just be me. Fruity notes don’t agree with my pheromones. Actually, I’m surprised this doesn’t smell bad on me. Usually, fruity perfumes morph into something else. That’s the way citrus notes work on me; I love citrus, but citrus doesn’t like me. It smells gross the minute it reaches my skin. Fortunately, this isn’t a citrus-fruity fragrance, just very sweet-fruity.

My pheromones still don’t agree with it, but this could last all day on someone else.

I do have some advice to ensure this fragrance lasts. I tend to see people spray body spray all over their body. Don’t do that — you’re only wasting product. Instead, spray them on your pheromones. I spray my body spray and fine perfume on my wrists and the center of my neck. This way, the scent lasts, and you’re not wasting product.

Price and Packaging

Victoria’s Secret charged $18 per bottle. The bottle is 8.4 fluid ounces in size. They’re also holding a sale where you get 5 for $38, which is a stellar deal if you like Victoria’s Secret body sprays that much.

The packaging is very pretty. Love Spell is in a purple bottle. The top is gold, and the spray nozzle is easy to use. At 8.4 ounces, you get plenty of product that will last you a while.

Is it worth the price? That’s what I’m still trying to figure out. One scent I love, A Thousand Wishes by Bath & Body Works, is the same size and is only $15. That fragrance literally lasts all day on me. Maybe for those who love VS Body Mists, the $18 price tag is one you can’t beat. But I think it’s a little pricey for a fragrance that doesn’t last at all.

Other VS Perfumes

Before we go into the alternatives, it’s worth it to go over some of the other fragrances that VS offers. They have a ton of them, so I will just go over the most famous ones.

Pure Seduction

pure seduction

Pure Seduction is another extremely popular fragrance that Victoria’s Secret releases. Like Love Spell, it has a sweet and fruity scent. It’s best described as spicy raspberry. I don’t think this is the one I got now. I think I had either Bombshell or Amber Romance. I don’t remember my perfume smelling like berries at all.

Aqua Kiss

aqua kiss

If you like sea fragrances but not those generic “ocean waves” candle-like scents, then this one is for you. It’s a very clean-smelling aquatic scent that also has hints of cucumber and aloe vera. But c’mon, this is a VS body mist, not a candle. It will be sweeter than your ocean waves candle or the seaside car freshener you have.

Bare Vanilla

bare vanilla

Not sure if there’s a difference between this one and Vanilla Lace. All I know is I know someone who wears the vanilla VS perfume, and it always makes me gag. From the reviews, it seems like it could be this one. But if you’re looking for a strong and pure vanilla fragrance, this seems like the one for you.

Amber Romance

If you want a sexy yet calming fragrance, then choose this one. I absolutely love the smell of amber, and I always choose an amber perfume. The best thing about this fragrance is it’s not overwhelming. Plus, it seems like this one lasts a long time! Just a lovely and soothing scent that you’ll love for a long time.

Coconut Passion

coconut passion

If you love nothing more than coconut, then you’ll love the delicious smell of this fragrance. The best way to describe this scent is pure coconut, but slightly sweeter. Many reviewers have also said it’s a dupe for Urban Outfitters Lait de Coco perfume. Unfortunately, many reviewers complained that the scent doesn’t last. Otherwise, it smells like fun beach days, except it’s sexier.

Alternatives

As you can see, I’m not crazy about Love Spell. But there are many other fragrances I can recommend.

Kat Von D Sinner Perfume

KVD Sinner Eau De Parfum

This is one of my favorite fragrances of all time. Picture if Love Spell was extremely sultry. While it doesn’t have fruity notes, the floral notes mixed with vanilla, cinnamon, and wood make this an extremely sexy yet feminine fragrance. This is also an ounce big but is the same price as Love Spell. Trust me when I say you only need a little bit. I literally sprayed one spritz of Sinner on my hand, and it’s already overpowering Love Spell.

Sexiest Fantasies

Sexiest Fantasies Love Struck by Parfums De Coeur Body Mist 8 oz Women

First, I have to explain. I’m not sure if I’m linking the right fragrance. My mom got me this fragrance called Sexiest Fantasies as a gift. It was black with purple designs. Looking on Amazon, this is the closest thing I could find.

Anyway. As you can see, this fragrance is the same size as the VS one, plus it’s only $12. I’m thinking this is the correct one because commenters have said it’s a dupe for Love Spell. It definitely has that same fruity yet floral fragrance, though I don’t think Sexiest Fantasies is as sweet as Love Spell. While it’s not the longest-lasting fragrance, it’s a cheaper alternative to Love Spell.

Pacifica Cherry Moon Spray

I’ve never tried Pacifica fragrances, but this one came up as having similar notes to Love Spell. As you can see, cherry is the main note. From the description, it seems this fragrance is very sweet. It received decent reviews, and many people said it smells wonderful. Reviewers are saying this is great if you love cherry blossom. The perfume is $11 and is 1 fl oz. Keep in mind, this is a perfume, not a body mist, so it lasts longer.

Tory Burch Love Relentlessly

Tory Burch Love Relentlessly

When I smell Love Spell, I think of a very happy-euphoric mood. You definitely get that with Love Relentlessly. While it doesn’t have the same notes, it does smell lovely with patchouli, pink pepper, amber, and rose — pretty much all of my favorite notes in one perfume. This perfume is $92, so it may be too expensive for many people (not for me, I don’t mind spending money on good perfume).

FAQs

Question: What About the Other Love Spell Varieties?

Answer: When you look at Victoria’s Secret website or shop in stores, you may notice different Love Spell varieties, including Love Spell Shimmer and Love Spell Untamed. There is also a Love Spell body lotion. Are they all the same fragrance? Love Spell Shimmer and the lotion are the same fragrance. Love Spell Shimmer just has sparkle, and the lotion is just the scent in lotion form.

However, Love Spell Untamed is slightly different. The notes on this one are apricot nectar, berry, and moonlit woods. This one actually sounds like one I would like better than the original. It’s a limited fragrance, so make sure you get it soon if you want it!

Question: What Victoria’s Secret Body Mist Smells the Best?

Answer: Bombshell got the best ratings (that could have also been the one I had before, I honestly forget). The other popular ones include:
• Blush
• Coconut Passion
• Amber Romance
• Sheer Love
• Pure Seduction
• Love Is Heavenly
• Pink Fresh and Clean
• Vanilla Lace

Love Spell was actually voted last. I also smelled Vanilla Lace, and it’s gag-worthy. Then again, I’m not a big vanilla fan at all.

Question: Which Scents Are Most Attractive to Men?

Answer: Funny how I mentioned I hate vanilla. It’s apparently the most attractive scent to men. Even if I liked the smell of vanilla, my pheromones shed off vanilla and any other sweet/dessert scents. Some of the other scents favored by men include:
• Sandalwood
• Lavender
• Musk
• Violet
• Orchid
• Jasmine
• Orange
• Pink grapefruit
• Lily
• Cinnamon

Love Spell Perfume Review: Bottomline

Victoria’s Secret body mists are some of the most popular, right next to Bath and Body Works. But I’m not impressed with Love Spell. While it has a unique fruity/floral scent that I like, it doesn’t last long. I suggest reviewers try any of the recommended alternatives, specifically Kat Von D Sinner and any of the other VS fragrances.
