I’m personally a big fan of Lancome’s fragrances — La Vie Est Belle is one of my personal favorites. But I’m definitely interested in Idôle. Idôle is a fragrance released by Lancome in 2019. It’s described as a floral and fruity fragrance as well as a modern version of musky perfume. All of these scents are right up my alley.
Here, I will give you more insight into this perfume to see if it’s right for you.
- Clean and fresh floral perfume
- Modern fragrance
- Serves as inspiration for women to become leaders
- Strong fragrance
- Clean smell
- Great for daily wear
- Pretty packaging
- It may not work with all pheromones
- Really strong smell
Lancome has always made fragrances that embody strength yet feminity. Idôle is no different. As you can see, the name is taken from “idol.” But here, Lancome represents this as seeing yourself as an idol and being an empowered person. This fragrance inspires all women to dream big, lead, and push the boundaries.
Lancome is renowned for its beautiful and luxurious packaging, and Idôle is no different. This bottle stands out because it’s very thin. The bottle has a square silhouette, and the curves are very sharp. The top of the bottle has a golden sphere. This striking look embodies determination — because success speaks for itself. Even if you’re square and sharp, your hard work will pay off in the end.
There’s also something lovely about this bottle. It’s very elegant but modern. The bottle and liquid have a lovely rose gold color. If you love this perfume, this bottle is completely refillable.
- Top: Pear, bergamot (citrus), pink peppercorn
- Middle: Jasmine and rose
- Base: Vanilla, white musk, cedarwood, patchouli
While this perfume is very varied, there’s a trend going on here. While the perfume is on the sweeter side, the notes featured are all very clean. The citrus also makes up the brightness of the perfume while it’s grounded with musk and vanilla. Overall, these are all very modern notes. The scent is very intense, but success isn’t reached by standing in the background. This is why this fragrance is so irresistible.
Jasmine is a fresh and crisp-smelling flower. I personally love jasmine because it’s a warmer flower than other floral notes. It is slightly on the sweet side, but I think it’s an overall very rich smell. It’s not a flower I personally smell all the time, so when I get a whiff, I immediately think it’s an exotic scent.
Ah, rose—what a timeless scent, and it’s one of my personal favorite scents ever. However, as all fragrance connoisseurs know, there are different types of roses. Idôle uses Isparta Rose. Named after the city in Turkey where it’s commonly found, it’s pink in color and has a deeper, muskier scent than the red roses we all know so well.
I’m personally very picky about the vanilla scent. Many prefer the gourmand vanilla, the one that smells like desserts. That’s my least favorite, but for this perfume, it works. Its creamy and sweet scent adds a bit of feminity to this perfume. However, I prefer woodsy vanilla. You know, what you smell when you stick your nose in a bottle of vanilla extract. Mmmm.
Finally, we have musk. It’s a comforting scent that’s commonly added to many perfumes. Musk is a difficult scent to describe. It’s powdery and also has a unique woodsy scent. Musk has a powerful earthy fragrance that acts as a powerful base. This makes it a common addition to men’s cologne; yet, it’s a clean yet warm scent that gives so much depth to any women’s perfume.
How to Apply
When it comes to perfume, the application matters more than you think. And it’s beyond just spraying the perfume on specific zones.
If you can, always apply this perfume after taking a shower or a bath. Your skin is still slightly damp, and the scent will latch onto the moisture. You’ll experience more benefits when applying an unscented lotion before perfume application, especially if you can’t shower first. As stated previously, the fragrance lasts longer on damp skin. If your skin is hydrated, it will lock onto your skin.
Now, you’re ready to spritz your perfume! I spray it a few times on my forearm and my hair. Spraying across your forearm, not just on your wrist, is key. The fragrance also lasts longer on your hair than on your skin. From here, get dressed immediately. The fragrance will easily catch onto your sleeve, so you smell like Idôle all day.
Who Designed the Perfume?
Three women created this perfume: Shyamala Maisondieu, Adriana Medina, and Nadège le Garlantezec. On the Lancome website, Maisondieu claims that Idôle breaks our fascination with gourmand scents by offering a chypre floral perfume. This means the perfume has a cleaner scent compared to floral fragrances of the past.
Medina said she was inspired to create a fragrance that inspires women to conquer anything she desires. Le Garlantezec simply says, “love at first sight, love at first smell.”
Price and Size
As a Lancome fragrance, you can guess this perfume isn’t cheap. On the Lancome website, this perfume is available in three different sizes and at three different price points. These are:
- 0.34 fl oz: $30
- 0.85 fl oz: $59
- 1.7 fl oz: $99
Honestly, these prices aren’t terrible. The 0.85 fl oz is all you need, assuming you’re saving this for a special occasion. You’re not even spending $60. I spent nearly $80 on La Vie Est Belle, which I think is around the same size. But if you don’t even want to buy the 0.85 fl oz size, I often buy travel-size perfumes to see how I like them over time. If I like them, I simply buy the bigger bottle. That’s what I did with La Vie Est Belle.
Where to Buy
A pick search on Google says this perfume is available:
- On the Lancome website
I would be wary about buying this anywhere else, especially Amazon.
Other Idôle Perfumes
Because of the success of Idôle, there have been other variations of this perfume.
This has the clean scent of classic Idôle, except it’s more of a summer fragrance. Jasmine and rose make up the bulk of this fragrance, finishing off with salted vanilla. It still holds the same unique energy as Idôle.
Where there’s a classic fragrance, there’s always an “intense” one. So, what makes l’Intense so, well, intense? Well, this one is for those who are truly daring. In addition to the fragrance notes in the original, this one features a base of bourbon vanilla. It’s safe to say this perfume isn’t for the weak.
Many great fragrances are similar to Idôle. Here are a few notable ones.
Lancome La Vie Est Belle
This is one of my favorite scents of all time. I have a bottle of this and wear it constantly. Translating to “life is beautiful,” La Vie Est Belle is a unique blend of patchouli with spring flowers. Like Idôle, it’s a very modern fragrance, but it’s also very complex. Unlike that clean scent that Idôle has, La Vie Est Belle smells warm and sensual. It’s a very feminine and energizing fragrance, perfect for practically anyone.
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
Leave it to Chanel to make one of the most sensual perfumes ever. This scent is very bold, combining the best of floral and wood scents. Like Idôle, it encompasses a very daring individual. In this case, it encompasses a young Coco Chanel (why it’s called Mademoiselle, meaning Miss). This perfume has a lot of freshness with notes of jasmine, orange, patchouli, and rose.
Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium
I immediately thought of this perfume when I read about Idôle l’Intense. It’s a floral and gourmand fragrance, combining white flowers with vanilla. The result is a spicy and warm perfume that’s sweet on the senses. It’s a more seductive fragrance but is as equally intoxicating as Idôle. It’s a modern perfume, perfect for the young woman who wants to upgrade her perfume wardrobe.
Let’s leave France for a second and travel to Italy. If you love floral scents, then take a look at this one that Valentino is offering. It’s a warm fragrance that also has an edge to it, inspired by edgy Roman street culture. Jasmine combines with bourbon vanilla for a modern, feminine fragrance that also reminds me of l’Intense.
Armani Beauty Si
I absolutely love this perfume. As I’m sure you know, “si” means “yes” in both Italian and Spanish. It’s a very powerful fragrance but is also very chic. Freesia, blackcurrant, musky wood, and rose dominance this perfume. It’s strong enough to last all day and will make you feel very distinguished. As with Idôle, it’s designed for the strong, modern woman.
A little bit nice, a little bit naughty. It’s a very sensual fragrance, with jasmine being the dominant note. The jasmine fades to almonds, coffee beans, and cocoa, resulting in a seductive fragrance. This is one to wear if you’re going out on a date. What makes this stand out is it’s an “adult” scent for the modern woman. No, not an old lady smell. Rather, it’s a sexy woman smell. And c’mon, you have to love the high-heeled shoe bottle.
Question: Who Is the Woman on the Idôle Advertisements?
Answer: For this perfume, Lancome uses the actress and singer Zendaya for the advertisements. Ever since 2019, she’s been the face of the Idôle fragrance. She’s also the face of the other Idôle fragrances and the mascara that Lancome released for the fragrance, called Idôle Lash.
Question: Is Idôle the Best Lancome Perfume?
Answer: I personally think La Vie Est Belle is the best Lancome perfume, and it seems like others agree. As of now, it’s Lancome’s best-selling perfume. Tresor and Idôle are next in line, though. Lancome’s best-smelling men’s cologne is also Hypnose Homme.
Question: Does Gigi Hadid Wear Lancome Perfume?
Answer: Nope. Gigi Hadid wears Aqua di Gio by Armani and Ralph Lauren’s Pink Peony. Clearly, Gigi likes peony.
Question: Does Rhianna Wear Lancome Perfume?
Answer: No, as well. Her favorite perfume is Kilian Love, Don’t Be Shy. She personally loves the unique combination of marshmallow and orange.
Question: Does Meghan Markle Wear Lancome Perfume?
Answer: Meghan Markle actually has a few favorites, but none of them are Lancome perfumes. Her favorites include:
• Jo Malone Wild Bluebell
• Oribe Cote d’Azur
• Any perfume with sea salt and wood sage
Funny fact. On her wedding day, Markle had famous perfumer Floris London create a signature scent for her that’s best described as “the sea breeze, sunshine, and water.” If getting your own signature scent for your wedding isn’t the epitome of royalty, then I have no idea what is.
Question: Does Kim Kardashian Wear Lancome Perfume?
Answer: No, too. Her favorite perfume is Michael by Michael Kors, and she especially loves the smell of gardenia.
Question: Does Billie Eilish Have a Perfume?
Answer: Yes, she does! Her first fragrance, Eilish, is out now. Billie herself describes it as a “warm embrace.”
Question: What Are the Best-Selling Perfumes in the World?
Answer: As of now, these are some of the perfumes that are getting quite the buzz:
• Marc Jacobs Daisy
• Guerlain Shalimar
• Jimmy Choo Eau de Parfum
• Clinique Aromatics Elixir
• Giorgio Armani Si
• Le Labo Santal 33
• Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb
• Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia
Question: Which Scents Do Men Like the Most?
Answer: Some of the scents that men gravitate toward include vanilla (yuck), orange/citrus, chocolate, lily, and bergamot. But c’mon ladies, what do men know? Wear the perfume you like because you like it, don’t wear it to attract a man. I sure won’t wear vanilla perfume for a guy. Fortunately, my boyfriend prefers clean floral scents. Marc Jacobs Eau So Fresh is his favorite.
Idole Perfume Guide: Bottomline
Lancome perfumes are some of my favorite. Even though I’m a huge fan of Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle, I’m very curious about Idôle. It’s best described as a clean and fresh floral perfume. It’s a great daily perfume to wear since it embodies the power and determination that women hold. I suggest trying this perfume to see if you love it!
