Described as a floral fruity fragrance, Coach Dreams Eau De Parfum was launched in 2020 and was created by Antoine Maisondieu, Nathalie Gracia-Cetto, Olivier Pescheux, and Shyamala Maisondieu. It’s designed for young women and the fragrance captures youth, following your dreams, and being carefree. The story behind the perfume is friends driving through the Californian desert.

The Smell

Coach Dreams Perfume Review

With the first smell, I can smell the wide variety of fragrance notes in this fragrance.

I definitely smelled the gardenia as well as the orange notes and Joshua tree. I don’t smell too much of the cactus flower. Even though gardenia is a middle note, it’s the one that overtakes this fragrance. That’s why I consider this a floral perfume over anything else.

Overall, I think this is a scent that can work with just about anyone. It’s sweet but the notes are very well-balanced. I love floral scents so I’m crazy about the dominating gardenia notes, though others will prefer the orange and fruity notes as well as some of the woody desert-inspired notes.

What I like about Coach Dreams is how it’s an overall feminine fragrance. It’s a little sensual but is also a little elegant. I love the desert plants that give off a sweet yet unique fragrance. You definitely won’t find another fragrance like Coach Dreams Eau De Parfum.

I even think my boyfriend’s cat liked it! He was very cuddly with me while I was wearing the perfume. He even seemed fixated on my wrist, smelling it often. It was so cute!

I will warn you, the first scent is extremely overpowering. It does settle down over time, so don’t worry about that. I will go into detail about this in the next section.

The Fragrance on Me

We all have unique pheromones. The way a perfume smells in the bottle won’t always smell on you that way. And perfumes smell differently on everyone. I will say, my pheromones tend to favor floral and wood notes. That’s why I think this fragrance worked so well on me.

I was a little nervous about trying this because of the dominating orange notes. While I love citrus scents, citrus scents don’t like me. Doesn’t matter if it’s orange, lemon, lime, all of those notes smell so gross on me.

That’s why I was pleasantly surprised when using this fragrance. I smelled virtually no orange on me. With the first spray, I smell more pear than anything. But quickly, the scent changes. I smell almost a powdery scent briefly, then it moves more into a floral direction.

The fragrance is extremely overpowering at first. I feel like I’m in a gardenia bubble for the longest time.

But the scent eventually fades and settles, becoming more subtle as the day goes on. The perfume smells like a light sweet scent with some wood undertones; I can definitely smell the Joshua Tree with a slight bit of Ambroxan.

This can be shocking for anyone who is sensitive to fragrances or can’t wear strong perfume to work or school. If this sounds like your situation, spray only a small amount or spray the perfume several hours before leaving.

How Long Does the Fragrance Last?

I sprayed a little bit of the fragrance as I’m writing this review, but I will discuss more of my experience when wearing the fragrance yesterday. Technically, the perfume lasted all day. But the fragrance goes through phases, so I will describe this more in-depth.

I sprayed the perfume around noon. As stated previously, I felt like I was in a gardenia cloud for hours.

The fragrance settled when my boyfriend got home from work, around 4:30 PM. When the fragrance settled, it didn’t smell super strong and all of the gardenia notes were gone. But don’t worry, you could still smell it. I mainly got whiffs of Joshua tree with some Ambroxan.

The weird as it sounds, the fragrance didn’t last on my wrists by that time. Rather, I smelled it on my clothes and slightly in my hair. Make sure to spray this fragrance on the nape of your neck and in your hair as well as your wrists.

You can also touch up the fragrance if you want the fragrance to be very strong. We had friends coming over so I didn’t touch up the fragrance — I didn’t want to smell too strong of perfume. But if we were going out that night, then I would have touched up the fragrance.

Where Should You Wear Coach Dreams?

This is a versatile fragrance that I think is ideal to wear anywhere. While it may be overpowering for school or work, this is the perfect perfume to wear to a party or other event. But as long as you spray a little bit, it’s a good daily fragrance.

Since Coach made this fragrance for young women, I think this is the demographic that will be more drawn to this perfume. And since the fragrance has so many different notes, it’s a good first fragrance for a young woman who may not know what perfume they like or what works for them.

The Bottle, Packaging, and Price

Coach Dreams Perfume

The packaging is the only fault with this perfume. But first, let’s go into the good.

Size and Price

I ordered the 3 oz size, which is the biggest size. On Ulta, the perfume of this size is $102 (I assume in Canadian currency but don’t quote me on this). But I got it for sale from FragranceNet.com for around $33!

I always check Fragrance Net for perfume since they have the best prices.

I’ve been ordering my perfume from this website for years. I also order my mom’s perfume from this website and my boyfriend got me the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black fragrance for Christmas and he ordered it from this website.

Bottle and Packaging

When I first took this perfume out of the box, I popped off the top. I’m used to lifting the top off to reveal the spray nozzle. However, I was shocked to not find the spray part at all. It took me a second to realize that the top is the spray nozzle!

The top is cute. It’s shaped like a little flower. But the spray nozzle is hard to find. It looks like a little white circle. Make sure you look for this before spraying — I almost sprayed the perfume in my face at first!

The perfume also includes a stopper you fit over the base. I suggest using this.

Other than the annoying packaging, the bottle is very nice. It’s a simple design — the Coach logo with the scent name on the bottle. Even though it’s minimalist, you can tell the bottle and the design are high-quality.

Alternatives

I do like Coach Dreams Eau De Parfum and I see myself wearing this perfume often. But there are other fragrances that I love and would recommend, but there are also other fragrances with similar notes. Here are a few other recommendations.

Floral Coach

Floral Coach

If you want another Coach fragrance recommendation, I suggest trying Coach Floral Eau De Parfum. It’s a rose-heavy fragrance, which is fine for me because I love the smell of roses. This fragrance is also unique because it also combines fruit and musk notes. My favorite base note in this perfume is the Josuha tree.

For many, this is a signature fragrance because it’s feminine but not too sweet. I tried a sample of Coach Floral and loved it, but I think I love Dreams more. But Coach Floral is a good one to try if Dreams is too sweet-smelling for you.

Un Jardin Sur la Lagune by Hermès

hermes

Translating to “a garden on the lagoon,” this fragrance by the luxury French brand Hermes is one of my all-time favorites. Floral notes of magnolia and lily dominate this fragrance, but you also get fresh whiffs of lemon. Finishing up with amber as well as sea and wood notes, it’s a very sensual yet bright perfume that’s very exotic.

HermesUn Jardin Sur La Lagune
$105.99 ($32.12 / Fl Oz)

Un Jardin Sur La Lagune is a gripping and convincing fragrance for women and men. Launched in 2019 by the design house of Hermes, this amber floral scent features vibrant and caressing notes of Lily and Magnolia along with nuances of Woody and Sea notes in a heady mix with Pitosporum to give you an enveloping fragrance.

Dolce Garden by Dolce and Gabbana

dolce by dolce and gabbana

I never tried this fragrance but I honestly never cared for D&G perfumes. However, this perfume is similar to Dreams, so I figured it was worth a mention. This is a fruity and floral fragrance that combines orange with magnolia, coconut, vanilla, ylang-ylang, sandalwood, and almond milk.

Dolce Garden by Dolce and Gabbana
$52.50 ($32.81 / Fl Oz)

The floral fruity fragrance of Dolce Garden is an inspiring scent for women. Launched in 2018, this scent comes from the design house of Dolce & Gabbana.

FAQs

Question: Is Coach Poppy a Good Perfume?

Answer: Coach Poppy is another popular Coach fragrance, though I never cared for it. The notes are mandarin, cucumber, jasmine, freesia, gardenia, lily, crème brûlée, and rose petals. It has an extremely sweet scent that throws me off.

Question: Is a Luxury Brand Coach?

Answer: Coach is an American brand that specializes in designer handbags, accessories, luggage, and beauty products.
Their executive director is Stuart Vevers and he has been in charge since 2014. They’re best-known for their quality of leather goods. I got a Coach purse as a gift when I was in high school. I’m nearly 30 and still use that purse often if that says anything.

Question: Can You Get Affordable Coach Products?

Answer: While Coach has high-quality products, they’re pretty pricey. Don’t get me wrong, you get what you pay for, but Coach products are often out of people’s budgets. So, can you get affordable Coach products? And how?
First, check Coach outlet stores. There are Coach outlet stores throughout the country and you can shop at the Coach outlet online store .
I also suggest shopping at second-hand clothing stores in your area. I’ve seen designer-brand purses and clothing at second-hand stores in my area. I’ve also found second-hand stores that specialize in re-selling designer goods and can check for authenticity.

Coach Dreams Perfume Review: Bottom line

I’m a huge perfume snob and was excited to try Coach Dreams Eau De Parfum. Overall, I do like this perfume and will stay on my Christmas wish list for a gift set this year! I got a ton of compliments while I wore this perfume. It smells very floral on me and also has a unique scent, with all of the desert influences. While I hate the packaging, I do recommend this fragrance for young women and anyone else who wants a unique fragrance.
